Antique Farm Machinery

I was browsing through some pictures on my mobile and fell upon this one. It is an old antique tractor that I found while doing a site visit on a planter's field in Midlands.
Fig.1  An old antique type tractor

I recall how curious and thrilled I was when I saw it. I drifted back in old times and recalled some good books I read which made me feel the same thrill for the earth, weeds, vegetables and Nature.  Among these good reads were Anne of Green Gables (L.M Montgomery) and The Secret Garden (H Burnett).
I did feel that this blue and yellow framed old tractor must have held old dreams by its previous masters, it must have been preparing the soil as many curious, dreamy eyes gazed at it.
Today, it relaxes in an old field, still well kept but most probably having been replaced by some modern Massey Ferguson tractor...

Forlorn heart...

Forlorn heart, whisper to me an old forgotten song,

With romance lyrics slightly too long...

Forlorn heart, longing for a Love that was never yours

Mistletoe kisses behind closed doors,

Hugs and embraces stolen from somewhere,

And then melting out from the warmth and care

Bursting from beckoning eyes

And  moon like smiles....

Now you stand all alone at night

Shivering as you gaze at the pale moonlight

With a slight tear on your face

Wondering if someone, somewhere is waiting for you...

Drifting thoughts...

Carry the message of Love in the wind;

The memories, the Wonder; that special feeling...

For even if I cannot speak a word,

I have not forgotten our distant world

With its green canopies and shy smiles,

With the scent of wild poppies running over green miles

And the very first hug, the first kiss;

That unusual feeling of Bliss...

Carry my message to you, even if our story is over

Carry my time old kiss to my forgotten lover,

For I am no more angry with you;

I only cherish the good old times I once shared with you...

Just like Love...

 "Heart" 2010 © by seyed mostafa zamani used under a Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license:

Like a kiss in the rain,

Like a hug in the lonely embrace of the wind,

Like an unusual smile in your pain,

Like a heart shaped orange rind...

Like a smiley in the rainbow

Like laughter under a solitary star-lit night

Like melting bubbles in a cup of cappuccino

Like the warmth of a candle-light...

Like the sweet song on Valentine’s Day

Like the smooth feathers of a dove

Like careless words just at play

Like hearts beating, just like Love...

The Grass root people…

Small growers are responsible in providing most of the vegetables we consume locally in Mauritius.  Some contribution is also made by large sugar estates.  We currently are self-sufficient in fresh vegetables, but for how long will this trend continue?
