The Farmer...

People will look down at the farmer;

A man crouching in between plants; with weather beaten boots.

People will look down and wonder

Why he chose to dwell near brownish roots?

The farmer will look up and reply:

"I feed you and I feed the world";

"I like the sun, the rain and the changing sky"

"I am helped by the Bee and I help the Bird"

The choice to plough the land

Might have been out of Poverty,

A decision made my fore-fathers before hand

Or influenced by the Love of Nature and Simplicity...

Inner gift

Every being must express his inner gift to the world in the best

way possible, and must not be afraid to be who he is.

I believe that if you are a fisherman, you must not be scared of

the sea’s depth but you must learn the ocean’s secret and strive

till the Ocean speaks to you...

If you are a painter, you must paint a universe that others

cannot see and will see only through you, if you are a carpenter,

you must carve out the dream of people and you must be friend

with every material that comes across your hand...

If you are a teacher, you must simply bring out every talent in

every child to the world.

When East meets West

Two worlds will crash apart,

When your world of logical calculations and political secrecy

Meet up with my world's spontaneity coming from the heart...

Two worlds will crash apart

When your world of higher aristocracy

Meet up with my ordinary acquaintance and family...

Two worlds will crash apart

When your ladies wearing exquisite kashmiri sarees

Meet up with my women folks in their everyday cotton kurtis...

Two worlds will crash apart

When you bring me to your distantly oriental palace

And you discover that a one storey building is my home place.

Two worlds will crash apart and you know it

When the tinkling glasses of cocktail

Clash up with cans of iced beer and ginger ale..

When love in the 5 star hotels

Clash up with old inns mistaken for brothels...

Two worlds will crash apart for the worst or for the best

When East meets West...

Antique Farm Machinery

I was browsing through some pictures on my mobile and fell upon this one. It is an old antique tractor that I found while doing a site visit on a planter's field in Midlands.
Fig.1  An old antique type tractor

I recall how curious and thrilled I was when I saw it. I drifted back in old times and recalled some good books I read which made me feel the same thrill for the earth, weeds, vegetables and Nature.  Among these good reads were Anne of Green Gables (L.M Montgomery) and The Secret Garden (H Burnett).
I did feel that this blue and yellow framed old tractor must have held old dreams by its previous masters, it must have been preparing the soil as many curious, dreamy eyes gazed at it.
Today, it relaxes in an old field, still well kept but most probably having been replaced by some modern Massey Ferguson tractor...

Forlorn heart...

Forlorn heart, whisper to me an old forgotten song,

With romance lyrics slightly too long...

Forlorn heart, longing for a Love that was never yours

Mistletoe kisses behind closed doors,

Hugs and embraces stolen from somewhere,

And then melting out from the warmth and care

Bursting from beckoning eyes

And  moon like smiles....

Now you stand all alone at night

Shivering as you gaze at the pale moonlight

With a slight tear on your face

Wondering if someone, somewhere is waiting for you...
